ASPHALT MILLING

Asphalt Milling also known as asphalt grinding, is the process of mechanically removing the upper layer of asphalt from a pavement surface. This is typically achieved using a large, powerful machine equipped with rotating drums or blades designed to grind the asphalt into small, manageable pieces, also known as grindings. Properly executed grinding can correct drainage problems by removing high spots and creating a more even surface. Improved drainage helps prevent water pooling and reduces the risk of damage to the pavement.  The ground asphalt is then collected and often recycled for use in new asphalt mixtures.

THE GRINDING PROCESS

  • Surface Preparation: The area to be ground is assessed and prepared. This includes marking any necessary boundaries and ensuring the site is clear of obstacles.

  • Grinding Operation: Using specialized milling machines, the top layer of asphalt is ground down to the required depth. The machine's rotating drums or blades efficiently remove the surface material, which is then collected for recycling.

  • Debris Removal: The ground asphalt, along with any debris, is removed from the site. This ensures a clean and ready surface for the next phase of the project, such as resurfacing or applying a new layer of asphalt.

  • Surface Inspection: After grinding, the surface is inspected to ensure it meets the required specifications and is ready for subsequent treatments.

MINIMIZED DISRUPTION

  • Asphalt grinding is a relatively quick process, which means less disruption to traffic and daily activities compared to more extensive pavement removal methods. Our advanced machinery and efficient techniques ensure that the work is completed swiftly and with minimal inconvenience.

  • Grinding addresses various surface distresses, such as aging, oxidation, and surface wear. By removing the damaged top layer, you can eliminate these issues and extend the lifespan of your pavement.
